DUBAI — To celebrate the Indian Republic Day, a kavi sammelan and mushaira will be held on January 26 at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School in Dubai, chief organiser Syed Salahuddin has said. The 10th edition of the programme is included in the calendar of events of Dubai Shopping Festival 2012 as an official event as in the preceding years, he said. Popular poets of Hindi and Urdu including Wasim Bareilvy, Gulzar Dehlvi, Dr Peer Zada Qasim, Omar Salim Mohdar Al Aidroos,Santosh Anand, Anis Ansari IAS, Popular Meerathi, Dr Kaleem Qaiser, Ramender Mohan Tirpathi, Nusrat Mehdi, Azm Shakri, Johar Kanpuri and Anwar Jalalpuri will recite their verses. The event will be conducted by Anwar Jalalpuri. Entry will be strictly by invitation. A trilingual souvenir of more than 175 pages, projecting the importance and background of the Republic Day will be published at the event. Designed to be a collectors’ item, it will also include latest poetry of the participating poets. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the programme, a dinner will be held on January 25, which will attended by M K Lokesh, Indian ambassador to the UAE; Sanjay Verma, Consul-General of India in Dubai; Javed Akhtar and other dignitaries.
